Carol Buckley Youth Theatre Scholarship Fund
Nearly 11 years ago, Carol was swept away with the magic of the Elgin Opera House. What began as an anniversary date to see "The Sound of Music" soon became a lasting family theater experience. Her family has since performed in over 20 productions on the Opera House stage. During that time, Carol had the pleasure of participating in several capacities. Carol has done everything from supervising young actors, painting, organizing parades, cleaning, working in the concession stand, helping with summer camps and office work. She also mentored students working on senior projects and has written several grants for Opera House projects. Not only has Carol helped as a seamstress, but she also designed and costumed shows such as "The Addams Family" and "A Christmas Story". Carol served as the Friends of the Opera House board president and as the secretary. As the box office manager, she loved representing the Elgin Opera House and providing customer service with a personal touch.
Carol helped us fill our mission by seeing that many youth and families could participate in our programs even when their finances might have held them back. She was a kind presence behind so many good deeds and so many blessed lives.
To honor Carol, we have set up a fund in her name to provide scholarships for youth who are financially challenged to help them participate in our performing arts camps and programs.
